Soaring heights!

This audience is well aware of “Mickey mouse” and its creator “Mr. Walt Disney”. Yes, the character had soar into the hearts of million kids and even grownups throughout the world since the 1960s. Its ironic to believe that the character itself –Mickey mouse ‘ was inspired by Mr. Walt Disney’s own childhood. In fact, each one of us would have seen the world in a different perspective and dreamt of something you have been able to achieve today or still remains a dream. Well, some of them have turned into a good laugh….
I was born in 1986 the first sibling for my parents and brought up with utmost care. I was in fact spoon-fed till I reached my 2nd grade. I also misused the basket full of love and care given to me that I used to wet my bed rather than go to the toilet for a pee till my 4th grade. I remember out of total frustration, my uncle sympathized and tailored a jumbo size pampers/nappy made of nylon. Eeuw… those memories make my heart skip a beat out of embarrassment and glee.
I was a bright student and enjoyed a happy childhood. I loved the stars and fantasy for black space made me adore astronauts. In my later years, I realized that most kids develop a Craze for astronomy in the beginning but only a few work really sincerely to reach that goal. I did try, but you know self interest is not what counts always. You have to get your parents, and the society convinced that yes, this has a future in my career.
I graduated from school When the y2k fever was at stake. There was a rumor that the world was going to end in the year 2000 and that day was just before my grade 10 mathematics prelims exams. I and my friends were a pact and we bid farewell to each other hoping to meet again in heaven or well possibly hell. God, I was such an idiot and I didn’t tell my parents about it fearing they might get spooked up also. Well, the sad part is that I fell to sleep early that night and I couldn’t enjoy the fear thoroughly. Woke up next day and had to appear for a test we thought would never happen and cursed the guy who spread the rumor.
By then, I manipulated my interests and decided to learn medicine and be a doctor. Well, did I become one. No, I was tuned or rather calibrated by the news headlines and competition pressure to take engineering. (gaining medical seats in my country is like winning a lottery). Engineering was not my taste considering my poor interpretation of numerical and equations. However, I have a potential to learn anything that may not even be my taste, and engineering was swallowed as a piece of cake. I became an ENGINEER!! Initially it was “WOW”… But then, I came to know that in Bangalore (a metropolitan city in India) if a stone is thrown rather than falling on a dogs head, it will fall on an engineer’s head!!! At that time around 350,000 engineers graduated in our country.
By God’s grace of course I found jobs though with less wages , I was happy. And now here I am back to the country where I spent the golden years of my childhood. Which I never dreamt of.. in the same continent, same country. The fact is that we have to dream and even dream on…. Follow the dreams that are achievable and work really hard for achieving it. The track will be on fire and the stress will be high. But the fruit you taste upon achieving your dream is irresistible. Let’s hope for a happy ending and pray that each one of us achieve our dreams. Lets relish our childhood memories and relive the same.
